- I took my degree in Political Science, a discipline which suffers from an inferiority complex enough to grab the word "science" for legitimacy, not having the guts to simply rest in the humanities. My interests crystalized around theology and philosophy, political theory, constitutional law (which I've subsequently dropped), economics, and later international relations and the Middle East. I specifically enjoy talking about Catholic and Reformed social thought, and can while holding my pipe in one hand and scotch in the other touch deftly on Austrian economics, natural law, and the Orient. Mark and I met at ISI in the summer between our junior and senior years. I was just off a year abroad at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and he from Austria. That was an amazing year, one of the favorite years of my life, but I can say that every year since has been better in one way or another. I am Reformed, and was raised in the rigorous tradition of Presbyterian Calvinism, but have since shifted to Anglicanism (hey, it was just a matter of hopping Hadrian's wall from Scotland and settling in the slightly more cozy lowlands of England). I am currently a graduate student at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.
